Wednesday, May 12 TU Chapter Meeting Program – Catching Carp on Flies By Rick Prange

Spring is primetime for wading the shallows and fishing for carp with a fly rod. Carp are big, strong and a challenging fish to take on the fly. Dave Gourley, our program presenter for the evening, is an expert carp fly fisherman and will talk of all things on Idaho carp fly fishing. He will discuss the evolution of the carp fly angler, the history of carp in Idaho, some biology of the fish, necessary gear and flies, carp fly fishing tactics, and where and when to fish for them. Dave will also be our featured fly tier starting at 6:30 – he will be tying effective carp patterns.

The regular meeting/program session will begin at 7:30. We’ll be gathered at the MK Nature Center Auditorium, 600 South Walnut, behind IDFG Headquarters. Don’t miss it!
