Jeff Wimer

A native Idahoan, Jeff grew up fishing the waters of Idaho by age 4. By virtue of being the son of an IDFG Anadromous Hatchery Manager, Jeff was able to live within a stone’s throw of many Idaho Steelhead and Salmon rivers.

Jeff began steelheading fishing Idaho rivers with his father by 8 and tying steelhead flies by 10. While attending the University of Idaho he began to explore many of the rivers of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia in pursuit of anadromous fish of all kinds.

Today Jeff has narrowed his pursuit of Steelhead and Salmon to those areas and rivers best serviced by swinging flies on a tight line. Although Jeff ties all types of flies, his passion and focus has been to recreate and fish many of the original Pacific northwest steelhead flies and classic Spey and Dee patterns of Scotland.

Mr. Wimer's November 10th presentation will delve into the nuances of catching Northwest steelhead on a fly. Come join us at the MK Nature Center for his informative presentation. Fly tying begins at 6:30, program at 7:30.
