Subject: Oct. 11 Meeting
Date: 01-Oct-06

Wednesday, October 11, Chapter Meeting – For the past few years we have taken October off as part of our every other month meeting regime. But this month we have a special meeting for TU to hear from key players with Idaho Fish and Game. At the top of the billing will be an introduction to Robert Barowsky, the new Fish and Game Commissioner for southwest Idaho. Mr. Barowsky was appointed to the Commission by Governor Risch in July and served as Payette County sheriff for 24 years of a 35-year career in law enforcement, as well as serving as a Fruitland city councilman and leader in several civic organizations.

We will also hear from Jeff Dillon, the IDFG regional fisheries manager. Jeff will talk about the statewide fish management plan and the results of a recent IDFG angler opinion survey, both of which are being compiled and shared with the public before the six-year plan goes before the Commission. We will also be introduced to Scott Reinecker, the new regional supervisor for southwest Idaho. The meeting will take place at the M-K Nature Center behind the Fish and Game offices on Walnut Street in Boise. Flytying starts at 6:30, and the program at 7:30 (Dave Selvage may show us a crawdad pattern).

Monarch Stamp Mill Restoration Project – Volunteers are invited to join in our latest Boise River project and plant riparian vegetation along the Middle Fork of the Boise River in Downtown Atlanta. The Monarch Stamp Mill – a legacy mining site is undergoing remediation to remove toxic mercury and arsenic that is currently sloughing into the river. Please help restore the river banks after the clean up is complete, October 12-13th (Thursday and/or Friday). Lodging will be available at the Dutch Creek Forest Service Complex. RSVP with Pam Smolczynski, Trout Unlimited, 938-1110 ext. 14.
