Woolly Buggers youth fly fishing clube will meet Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Idaho Fish and Game Trophy Room, 600 S. Walnut. Meeting kicks off at 6:30 p.m. There is also fly tying in the room next door starting at 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The program for the evening is with Sarah Focht, wildlife educator with Idaho Fish and Game.

"Idaho Bears Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" is the name of the program.

The bear world has a lot to do with fishing. Bear are excellent fishermen. In Idaho's Salmon River both salmon and steelhead swim from the Pacific Ocean to the headwaters of the Salmon River to spawn. Bear find the salmon easy to catch in the shallow riffles where the salmon lay their eggs. The fish are an imporatnt part of the bear's diet.

Fly fishermen enjoy fishing for the salmon and steelhead but keep an eye out for bear tha tmight prefer eating fishermen than eating salmon.

During the fly tying from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. we will tie the famous Idaho flies like: Sheep Creek Special, Renegade and the Deadly Spidoo. Bring your own tying kit or if you are not equipped we will have a few vices, tying tools and supplies.
