Trout Unlimited Member Meeting

Wednesday, September 9, 2015, 6:30 p.m. The MK Nature Center 600 S Walnut St, Boise, ID 83712 As Summer wanes we return to Trout Unlimited meetings. For Wednesday, September 9th we will have Chad Chorney. Chad is the Big Wood River Project Manager for Trout Unlimited, a fly-fishing guide for Picabo Angler, and a freelance photographer living in Picabo, Idaho. Wearing all of these hats allows Chad to spend most of his time outdoors, and he feels fortunate to call Silver Creek his home water.

Chad will give a combination presentation on saltwater flats fishing in Chetumal Bay on Mexico's Caribbean coast and Trout Unlimited's work within the Wood River valley of central Idaho.

Chetumal Bay, along the border of Belize and Mexico, is one of saltwater fly fishing's prime destinations for bonefish and permit. Still relatively undeveloped, the Xcalak region of Mexico provides some of the most economical and consistent bonefishing in the Caribbean. Chad's presentation will cover travel, lodging, guides, gear, and fishing for the flats species of Chetumal Bay.

In 2013, Trout Unlimited launched a Home Rivers Initiative on the Big Wood River, based out of Hailey, Idaho. Chad will give an update on accomplishments to date, and outline TU's future work within the Big Wood, Silver Creek, Little Wood, and Big Lost watersheds.

We will meet at the MK Nature Center Auditorium, behind the IDGF Headquarters Office, 600 South Walnut Ave. A fly tying demonstration will start at 6:30 pm with the regular meeting beginning at 7:30. Hope you can make it!
