March 8, 2017 Trout Unlimited Chapter Meeting

Wednesday, March 8 Chapter Meeting Program – We are going to be joining Chris Preston as he tells us about his Colombia jungle adventure last year fishing for peacock bass and other exotic species on the magnificent Mataveni River. The very wild, 400 mile-long Mataveni is a tributary of the larger Orinoco River system. Chris was based in no-frills jungle river tent camps, used native guides and fished areas that had been closed for 40 years after guerilla insurgents arrived. The area is pacified now and is open to limited tourist fishing. Chris will talk about tackle rigging and the flies he used, his accommodations and trip logistics as well as his impressions of Columbia and Bogota. He'll have a map of Colombia so you can see where he was and lots of slide-type photos in his presentation.

Don't forget, we are moving our meeting venue around town and for this one, we will be located at Idaho Pizza Company, 5150 Overland Road in the Hillcrest shopping center near the intersection of Overland and South Orchard Street. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Fly tying and comradery starts at 6:30 with the regular meeting beginning at 7:30.
