We have arranged for the Ada County Work Release Program to give us a HUGE help pulling weeds at the Alta Harris Creek project on September 8th. Yes, 50 people will work for us from about 8:30 am until 3:00 pm!! We have had them out to our site on two other occasions, and they did a very good job! Typically, these are regular folks that have to do community service due to DUIs, instead of jail time.

We need a few supervisors! The Ada County Deputies only ride herd to get them to our project, and basically watch them over lunch break. They rely on the project “managers” to basically explain what the job is, and to be there for questions, make sure the work is being done properly, etc. I have coordinated and supervised the last two groups – there were only 7 people each time. With a group of 50, we need at least three people on site. Please consider volunteering for either the whole day, or to relieve someone so that only ½ day shifts are required.

Scott Stouder asked me to attend a meeting for him that day (see below). We would really like Trout Unlimited’s presence at this meeting (shooter elk operations and public lands issues). If enough volunteers can participate in the Harris Creek event, I will attend for Scott. I could come to the Harris Creek project for the first 1.5 hours, and get things lined out. Then I would leave for this meeting for the rest of the day. I am working 4 out of the 5 weekends in September, and hope that we can get folks together for the Sept. 8th event, because it requires a few of us to get it done.

Please let me know if you can help with this, or please forward if I have left off someone that you believe might lend a hand. Happy Cooler temperatures Everyone!!! Call me at 938-1110 x14. Thanks,

Pam
